Germany will host the world premiere of the play “The Only Tallest Trees on Earth” — the new work by Ivan Vyrypaev, one of the most significant and sought-after playwrights in contemporary Europe. His plays have been translated into more than thirty languages and staged in theatres around the world.
The leading roles are performed by Chulpan Khamatova, Maria Mashkova and Vasily Zorky. This is the first collaborative artistic project between the actors and Ivan Vyrypaev, whose works consistently resonate with both audiences and critics thanks to their philosophical depth, poetic quality, and distinctive musicality of language.
The production is directed by Mikhail Mishin, with producers Alexey Markvo and Mikhail Volkov. The play was created with the support of the Teal House Foundation and Bird&Carrot Productions.
“The Only Tallest Trees on Earth” is an intimate theatrical work where three actors engage in a dialogue that intertwines humor and unease, everyday life and philosophical reflection. The simplicity of the form becomes a way to speak about the essential — faith, love, and the search for meaning.
As in his finest works, Ivan Vyrypaev unites the rhythm of language with clarity of thought, turning words into an independent theatrical instrument. The characters’ dialogue becomes a living action in which the audience discovers the multilayered inner world of the protagonists. Themes emerge gradually — spiritual searching, boundaries of human emotions, and responsibility to oneself and others.
Vyrypaev once again demonstrates his unique artistic vision, where metaphor and reality coexist equally, and the word becomes a space in which theatre is born.
Age restriction: 18+
Note: The performance contains strong language.
